Setting Expiration and Deactivation Rules for QR Codes

In some cases, you may want your QR code to be active only for a limited time or a specific number of scans. Linkx.ee lets you manage the full lifecycle of your QR codes with tools to control when they start working, when they stop, and what happens after they expire.

This is especially helpful for time-sensitive promotions, limited events, seasonal campaigns, or one-time links.

Step 1: Go to QR Code Settings

Log in to your Linkx.ee account, then navigate to the QR Codes section.
Choose the QR code you want to manage and open its settings.

Step 2: Choose an Activation Status

You’ll see several options for managing how and when your QR code works:

Set Expiration Date
Choose a future date when the QR code should automatically stop working. This is useful for sales, events, or limited campaigns.

Set Scan Limit
Enter a number that limits how many times the QR code can be scanned. Once the scan limit is reached, the code is disabled.

Manual Deactivation
If you need to disable a QR code right away, you can turn it off manually with a single click. This prevents further scans instantly.

Schedule Activation
Set a future start date so your QR code becomes active at a specific time. Great for planned launches or timed rollouts.

Step 3: Configure What Happens After Expiration

Once your QR code expires or is deactivated, you can choose what users will see when they try to scan it:

Redirect to an Alternative URL
Send users to a different destination, such as your homepage or another promotion.

Show a Custom Message
Display a friendly note like “This promotion has ended” or “Link is no longer active.”

Display a Maintenance Page
Use a default or branded maintenance screen to let visitors know the code is inactive.

Best Practices

  • Use expiration dates for limited-time events

  • Set scan limits for exclusive offers or limited access

  • Always define a fallback experience so your audience does not hit a dead end

Managing the lifecycle of your QR codes gives you full control over how they are used and ensures a better experience for anyone scanning.
